The bizarre incident took place at Ben-Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv, Israel, where two parents were told they needed to buy an extra ticket for their young child.

Refusing to purchase another ticket, however, the Belgian nationals left the baby at the check-in and attempted to board the Ryanair plane alone.

The parents have since been brought in for questioning.

“We’ve never seen anything like this. We couldn’t believe what we were seeing,” a Ryanair desk manager recalled.

Meanwhile, Israel Airports Authority claimed that the couple arrived at the airport after the check-in counter had already been closed.
