A couple has hit the headlines after leaving their baby at an airport check-in to avoid paying for an extra ticket.
The bizarre incident took place at Ben-Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv, Israel, where two parents were told they needed to buy an extra ticket for their young child.
Refusing to purchase another ticket, however, the Belgian nationals left the baby at the check-in and attempted to board the Ryanair plane alone.
Moments later, the parents were arrested by the police, Jerusalem Post reported.
The publication also revealed that the couple wanted to fly from Tel Aviv to Brussels, Belgium, at the time of the incident.
According to the reports, the couple was offered an extra ticket which they refused to pay for. Instead, they left their baby in the stroller as they quietly attempted to board the plane without the child.
Thankfully, their plans were discovered by suspicious airport staff who immediately contacted the police.
The parents have since been brought in for questioning.
“We’ve never seen anything like this. We couldn’t believe what we were seeing,” a Ryanair desk manager recalled.
Meanwhile, Israel Airports Authority claimed that the couple arrived at the airport after the check-in counter had already been closed.
They then allegedly tried to get through the security in a rush to avoid missing the flight while leaving their child behind at the conveyor belt.
As of this writing, it remains unclear if the couple faces any charges. It is also unclear if the parents have since been reunited with their baby.
