Further reports claimed that the 18-year old’s family was devastated and heartbroken. They also recently filed a lawsuit against the plastic surgeon that conducted the procedure.
Details of breast implant surgery surface
Emmalyn Nguyen decided to go under the knife for the procedure. Her entire breast augmentation was conducted by Dr. Geoffrey Kim, who is a specialist at Colorado’s Aesthetics and Plastic Surgery.
Furthermore, the Emmalyn received a dose of anesthesia, around 2 pm, but little did she know about the devastating aftermaths of her decision.
On the other hand, statistics claim that over 400,000 women in the United States, go under the knife yearly, just to enhance their breasts.
Grieving mother shares her side of the story
Emmalyn’s mother shared her views on the sad incident, where she claimed:
‘I was fine with it. We didn’t think anything like that was going to happen to our daughter. I was a teenage girl once before. To us, it felt safe’
Similarly, Emmalyn’s mother also explained how her daughter saved around $6000 for her breast implant surgery. She explained how doctors left her daughter unattended for nearly 15 minutes. And that was right after a nurse administered anesthesia. The family’s made the same claims in the lawsuit filed against the clinic.
Other media reports suggested how employees at the clinic observed Emmalyn’s face and lips as turning blue. And it was evident that cyanosis was spreading all over her body.
Most importantly, she soon went into a state of cardiac arrest. But no one gave her resuscitation ‘immediately.’ And that led to the irreversible stage at which she stands today.
Family blames medical negligence
The next five hours were very crucial for Emmalyn. And that’s when the 18-year old suffered two major cardiac arrests while being ‘neurologically unresponsive.’ Likewise, that is how long it took for the staff to call up 911 for further assistance.
Her family said:
‘I just had kind of a weird feeling.’
And that’s because the whole breast implant surgery lasted for more than 2 hours. In fact, that duration was much longer than anyone had anticipated.
Above all, the family recalls how they relentlessly called many staff members to inquire about the teen’s help. But it was all in vain. One doctor calmed them down by saying ‘everything went well’.
Meanwhile, rescue teams shifted the teen to a hospital, where she laid for 22 days. After that, they shifted her to a rehab facility.
Today, she’s present in a ‘minimally conscious state.’ Her family says that she can’t eat, walk, talk, or even take care of herself.
