Cops rescued two young sisters who allegedly ate styrofoam to stay alive after their alcoholic mum neglected them to great extents.
According to media sources, young Diana and Anya used to eat styrofoam wallpaper to stay alive. That was all they could find, mentioned authorities. Both the kids lived under dire conditions in their dirty flat. On the other hand, their alcoholic mum and her boyfriend also lived there too in Central Ukraine. But after looking at the picture, it seemed as if neglect would be an understatement.
Thanks to an angel who came in the form of a neighbor, cops became aware of the shocking sisters and their tragic family story. And in the end, it wouldn’t be wrong to say that their rescue was a miraculous affair.

At just 5 years and 1 year of age, Diana and her sister Anya made the news. Unfortunately, it was for the most terrifying reasons. Media reports confirmed how the sibling duo ate styrofoam wallpaper out of hunger, after suffering abuse from their own alcoholic mum.
On the other hand, news agencies confirmed how the mum spent all of her money on alcohol. She was addicted to it like a drug and there was nothing else that gave her more happiness than her drink. However, that meant her daughter suffered the heartbreaking consequences of her poor decisions.
The neglect of the worst kind
Both Diana and her sister didn’t eat properly. While you’d imagine most kids their age being picky eaters, these girls didn’t have a choice when it came to food options. And that’s because there wasn’t anything there.
Days would go by with little to no food on the table. Therefore, cops reveal how they ate whatever they could get their hands on. For instance, hard styrofoam wallpaper was no exception.

The flat became infested due to poor hygiene reasons. In addition, the bathroom failed to function properly too. For this reason, they started using the bathtub. Officials also mentioned how they found the worst smell from the home. Everything was covered in bugs, dirt, dust, and more.
To even walk through such an area was beyond imaginable, let alone live in it. In the same way, cops explained how the young kids ate, slept, and lived in the same clothes each day. It was devastating, to say the least. Their hair and their bodies smelled so bad as if they hadn’t showered in so long.
A miracle arrives in time
Thanks to one thoughtful neighbor, the police became aware of the family. They stormed into the flat to find the kids eating wallpaper out of starvation. And it was beyond imaginable how they could possibly survive such a torture filled ordeal.
After getting rescued, officials took the girls to the hospital for a checkup. And that’s when medical experts in Ukraine hospitalized. They suffered from malnutrition as well as lice. And they needed immediate attention.
As far as the mum is concerned, cops reported her awful behavior to social services. Reports claim that the police intend on suing her while appealing for the removal of her parental rights too.
