A woman from the Gold Coast was reportedly left in a critical condition after a man strangled her, right before he escaped with her 11-month-old baby boy.
According to media reports, police were called into an apartment located in Southport on the Gold Coast during the later hours of Saturday. And that’s when they revealed how they found a woman lying alone and unresponsive.
The woman was rushed to the nearby medical facility by paramedics, where is being observed and treated while being in a critical condition.
The alleged suspect was identified as a 34-year-old individual who assaulted the woman, right before he ran away with her 11-month-old son.
After the reports of the horrifying incident went viral, authorities went on to issue an Amber Alert for the missing child. And that’s when it was revealed how the boy was found in an unharmed state, while the individual was still being charged.
Emergency services rushed to the Como Crescent residence at around 5 pm, right after neighbors in the area making complaints of a disturbance.
And that’s when officers arrived to find the woman lying unconscious. While the woman has been believed to be in a critical state, doctors are hopeful about her recovery as there are no major life-threatening injuries.
Just after midnight, police officials following the case were able to carry out an immediate hunt for the suspect and were successful at finding him. The baby was also reportedly located in the same area.
Now, the suspect is in police custody at Oxley’s Crestmead Police Station and has been charged for causing bodily harm and strangulation.
In the same way, the police also spoke about how they managed to seize a grey-toned Mazda CX9, and are currently examining the vehicle.
