For days, there were many mishaps and this family happens to be one of them.
Now, the family plans on raising their voice after the death of an 11-year-old boy. And that’s why they’re filing a mega $100M lawsuit against 2 mega Texas power companies.

Family files for a lawsuit
A family from Texas suffered from the worst nightmare recently. And that was when an 11-year old boy passed away amid the state’s worst power failure last week. The boy died when the most freezing temperatures struck, breaking years of records along the way.
Now, the family is currently involved in suing two mega power companies. According to them, the companies reportedly failed to take any action. Moreover, the family claims that they failed to show any response and that resulted in the boy’s death. And now they want justice.
On Tuesday, Maria Pineda’s young 11-year-old son Cristan passed away, inside the Texan family’s mobile home. Authorities confirmed the death and identified the exact location as Conroe in Texas.
A senseless death
A lawyer that represents the family filed for $100 million in damages, with claims of wrongful death. Local news outlets confirmed that the two companies included Entergy Corp as well as Electric Reliability Council of Texas.
Local media outlets first reported about the case.It accused the energy-providing organizations of great negligence. Also, they suffer from great allegations of putting profit over people’s well-being. Moreover, they continually ignored expert recommendations.
And those were relating to winterizing power grids.In the same way, they kept on misleading citizens about the actual duration of the power failure too. And in the end, rolling blackouts took center stage. Certainly, many families faced great misery across town.

Hours of power failure
Many people talked about how the mega-companies had full knowledge of the dire weather conditions. Clearly, the weather forecast predicted the situation beforehand. And many felt that it gave them plenty of time to plan ahead before disaster struck.
However, they failed to do so. But the real matter that continues to raise so many questions in so many people’s minds. How come the system wasn’t prepared for these conditions, for more than a decade? It’s almost as if they waited for deaths to take place. Utility companies have their say
After learning about young Cristan’s death, Entergy released a press statement which mentioned:
“We are deeply saddened by the great loss of life in our community. We are unable to make any further comments,” they added. Meanwhile, the other power company claimed through a statement how it didn’t get the chance to fully review the document.
However, it did confirm how 46% of its generation went offline on Monday. Also, they were very confident in making the right decision. And this involved preventing an entire state-wide blackout.
“This is definitely a major loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with all those who continue to suffer due to the effects this week.”
