A teen mum who fell pregnant at the tender age of just 13 shed light on her devastating pregnancy journey.
Now 17, Maddie Lambert went public with her tragic tale and how pregnancy turned into her worst nightmare, thanks to trolls. From sending her links to abortion links to wishing that she would die during her labor, the young mum revealed it all in an utterly heartbreaking tale.
Today, Maddie is a proud mother to a 3-year-old child but her pregnancy journey was far from perfect, she explains. Born and raised in Fort Worth in Texas, the mum gives full credit to her beautiful daughter for saving her life as she was literally on the verge of giving up on life.
Speaking during an emotional interview with Truly, the mother opened up about how she conceived at the young age of 13. While she does mention how she initially thought about aborting her child, other thoughts revolved around adoption. Therefore, she thought it was the right time to not give up too soon.
To be very honest and open about her experience, the mum says that the moment she stared at her ultrasound screen, she just couldn’t believe there was a life growing inside of her. “That was the moment I felt like I simply couldn’t give up on this child,” she explains.
“I used to always look down on teen mums and wonder how they managed and why they were in the position, to begin with,” Maddie explained. Just the lack of knowledge and understanding made her question other people’s choices. However, when the tables were turned on her, she realized it all.
But the real terror started after she faced a bucketload of abuse from so many trolls across the board. Many people couldn’t stand the fact that she was choosing to keep her child. “I knew I would receive a lot of hate on my decision to have a baby at 13 but this wasn’t near to what I had expected,” she adds.
People used to constantly tell her that she was ruining her life, while others sent out abortion clinic links and advice that she never asked for. Even her baby’s dad, Isaac, who was 15, couldn’t digest the news. Moreover, he even refused to meet his child for nearly 10 months. He insisted on a paternity test, which he now regrets.
Maddie and Isaac co-parent the child responsibly. While her journey was a demanding one, Maddie is proud of herself for battling it out alone.
