A pregnant teacher who was arrested for having an affair with her teenage student has been released from jail after posting bail.
Miami teacher Heiry Calvi, 41, was seen holding her belly and trying to cover her face as she left jail. She was accused of having s*x with the 15-year-old boy after ‘growing close’ to him.
According to reports, she sent him explicit photos on WhatsApp and the teen showed his friends videos of them having s*x.
It is not clear if Calvi is married or if she is carrying the student’s baby. She reportedly gave the teen one of her credit cards and the two attended parties together.
Police first became aware of the situation in March. The boy’s phone was seized by police as part of the investigation and officers discovered that the teacher had sent him explicit photos over WhatsApp.
The 15-year-old also told his friends about his relationship with the teacher.
“A child does not have the legal authority to give consent even though the child may say ‘this is OK,’ said Rey Valdes, a Doral Police Department spokesman.
“The responsibility is on the adult.”
The teacher has been charged with lewd and lascivious battery, unlawful use of a communication device, offenses against students by authority figures, child neglect, electronic transmission harmful to minors, and possession of firearm on school property.
One person commented: “These type of people need to be pre screened out before they get a teaching job. Throw the book at her.”
Another wrote: “Just sick. I will never understand how a grown adult can be attracted to a child or teen. Just disgusting. You should feel motherly or fatherly instincts towards them, not a s*xual attraction. At 41, she could easily be his mother.”
A third added: “Vile.”
