A 55-year-old resident of Malaysia was arrested and will be hanged soon because of her involvement in a drug case.
Hairun Jalmanl is a single mother of nine children and is sentenced to death because of possessing and distributing113 grams of methamphetamine. Last week at the Tawau High Court in Sabah, the judge declared her criminal and announced her punishment.
Recently, a video is getting viral on social media in which the lady is crying and pleading for her life. This moment was captured in camera after the declaration of her punishment, and the police officers were escorting her out of the courtroom.
The laws in Malaysia are pretty strict in drug possession cases, and the criminals are usually hanged if more than 50 grams of drugs are found in possession of a single person. Almost 95% of women were sentenced to death in 2019 because of drug-related cases. The same case happened with Hairun.
Being a single mother, it was hard for her to feed and provide for nine children all by herself.
There are many chances that poverty made her do this, and now after she is sentenced to death, who will take care of her children? The government of Malaysia doesn’t do anything to help the women subjected to violence, abuse, and exploitation by others, but when it comes to crimes, not a minute is wasted in the announcement of the punishment.
This leaves a question mark on the justice system of the country.
