Putin Signs ‘President For Life’ Law That Allows Him To Cling To Power Until The Year 2036


Russia’s President Vladimir Putin has recently signed a new law that will reportedly allow him to cling to power till 2036.

Reports confirmed how Russia’s head of state made big news recently after signing a law called the ‘President for Life’ which enables him to serve two whole terms in the Kremlin, meaning he can exit in 2036. The July 1 constitutional votes entailed a thorough provision that resets all of his previous terms, mentioned authorities.

This is a prime example of a formal move that formalizes all types of constitutional changes that were endorsed in last year’s vote.

Meanwhile, local media outlets reported how the provision goes as far as stating how Putin’s previous terms will be reset, giving him the green light to run for the post of president, two more times.

The change was finalized and rubber-stamped by the country’s Kremlin-controlled legislature with the relevant law being signed by the head of state himself on Monday. The information was shared with the public by being posted through an official portal comprising legal information.

The president lashed out at critics by mentioning how the terms were necessary and that resetting would help prevent his lieutenants from possibly darting their eyes towards the possible lookout for successors instead of actually focusing on their real work.
