Priest Accused Of Stealing Church Funds To Buy Drugs And Organize Parties At His Home


A priest has been accused of stealing more than $100k worth of church funds to buy drugs and orchestrate parties at his home.

The bizarre incident takes place in Prato, Italy, where 40-year-old Francesco Spagnesi was placed on house arrest after getting accused of selling drugs at his parties and stealing as much as $115,000 from church funds.

According to the reports, the priest is believed to have spent the funds on drug-fueled gay parties that allegedly took place at his home.

As the investigation remains ongoing, the authorities are talking to dozens of witnesses who presumably attended the priest’s orgies.

Detectives have also confirmed that a typical party would involve at least three people, including Father Spagnesi, the priest’s flatmate, and random strangers they had come in contact with via gay dating sites.

While having three people at parties was the minimum, the priest and his friend would sometimes allegedly invite as many as 30 participants.

The dark story began unraveling after investigators discovered that the priest’s roommate bought large amounts of date-rape drug known as GHB.

After the man attempted to import the drug from the Netherlands, the police raided their flat and found out that the pair had converted bottles containing GHB into something resembling crack pipes.

The authorities also discovered that huge amounts of church funds were withdrawn from the parish bank account after an accountant for the church came across suspicious withdrawals.

While Spagnesi initially insisted he used the funds to help people in need, he eventually broke under pressure and admitted to suffering from an addiction to drugs.

After the incident, local worshippers decided to take legal action in an attempt to get the money they had donated back.

As of this writing, the investigation remains ongoing. Neither Spagnesi nor his partner have yet been charged with any wrongdoing.
