A young woman who was in the final week of her pregnancy was found dead at a park in Florida.
21-year-old Felicia Jones was a 9-month-pregnant young lady who was looking forward to becoming a mother. Her body was discovered in Riverview Park in Jacksonville, Florida, on Saturday.
According to the police, the authorities have begun investigating the case, whereas foul play is suspected as of this writing.
While the investigators didn’t reveal the deceased woman’s name at first, her identity was eventually confirmed by Felicia’s mother who spoke to First Coast News to break the tragic news.
Meanwhile, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the young lady was 9 months pregnant and about to give birth next week.
She was discovered by the authorities on Saturday at 6.30 am after a passerby came across her lifeless body and called the police.
After the first responders arrived at the scene, both the mother and her unborn baby were declared dead.
“This is a whole unborn baby ready to be born in two weeks. A beautiful young lady who just turned 21 this month,” Angelica Williams, the mom-to-be’s aunt, told First Coast News.
“We want to let the world know that she was loved. Her baby was expected. We wanted this baby. I was super excited about my nephew. All of that has been taken away from us. We’re distraught right now.”
Meanwhile, the police confirmed that Jones’ death is being treated as suspicious and that foul play is suspected.
“We are treating this investigation as a suspicious death with foul play suspected,” the Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit confirmed.
