Captain Karen Holliday also said: “She was doing God’s work…..a warrior. Searching Afghan women and children trying to get out of country.”

Nikoui’s father told Fox News that he was angry at the conditions the troops were working in. “I’m a carpenter; I’ve never served. But even I could see that that was a dangerous situation,” he said.

“From what I saw of the airport that they were in it looked like a turkey shoot. It was just so chaotic and not planned out.”

In an interview with the Daily Beast, McCollum’s father said: “I’ve lost my son, but there are still Marines over there. I am scared s**tless to see what’s going to happen next, and what’s going to come our way.”
