An inspiring young lady proudly showed off her body hair as she revealed she dumped a date who complained to her saying she was too hairy.
27-year-old Esther Calixte-Bea from Canada embraced her body hair by ditching the razor five years ago. Since then, she has been encouraging and empowering other women to ditch modern beauty standards and grow body hair.
Not willing to change for anyone because she strongly believes in the motto ‘my body, my choice,’ Esther admitted her new style has caused some issues in her dating life.
Recalling one particular date during which she had to dump the man for disagreeing with her vision, she said:
“There was one time when I was seeing this guy who did make a comment saying he wouldn’t date a girl that’s hairier than him.
“And I thought how odd. So I ended up ending that relationship entirely because I didn’t feel like that was productive or that I wanted to be with a man like that. He was not a very kind person.”
And while critics are plenty, Esther also insisted she has plenty of male supporters who aren’t bothered by her chest, armpit, and stomach hair.
“I think that in society, we’ve been taught that body hair, specifically on women is unhygienic, it’s ugly, it’s undesirable,” the young woman added.
“I had to question growing up, why did I even hate my body hair? I had to realize it was society – like I hated my body hair but I also hated removing it because it was so painful. But now, I feel free.”
Esther also claimed she is much happier after ditching the razor for good, whereas she’s never willing to go back to shaving daily for others’ pleasure.
“It’s important to have more confidence in ourselves, to build that confidence so we’re not swayed by false ideas and detrimental ideas as well – to our health and our mental health as well,” the 27-year-old concluded.
