According to the local reports, the man was fined $35,000 after a botched procedure during which he attempted to dye his customer’s eyeballs using the same technique that is used for inking skin.

As the court heard, Aleksandra complained about pain and loss of vision shortly after the procedure.

It was later found out that Piotr used ink that was not meant for use on eyeballs. Furthermore, he penetrated the young woman’s eyes too deeply with his needle.

“There is clear evidence that the tattoo artist did not know how to perform such a delicate procedure. And yet he decided to perform it which led to this tragedy,” Aleksandra’s attorneys said.

In the months after the botched procedure, the 25-year-old had to have one eye removed and replaced with a fake. Meanwhile, she lost vision completely – and likely permanently – in her remaining eye.

“Unfortunately, for now doctors do not give me much optimism for improvement. The damage is too deep and extensive. I’m afraid I will be completely blind,” she expressed.

“I will not lock myself in the basement and get depressed. I have sadness behind me, but I live on.”

According to the reports, Piotr still runs a salon where he focuses mainly on piercings.

Besides being handed a $35,000 fine, he was also ordered to carry out 360 hours of community service.

“In our preliminary assessment, the amount of PLN 150,000 [around $35,000] is still disproportionate to the extent of the harm suffered by severe disability in the form of total loss of sight,” Aleksandra’s lawyers argued as they announced they will appeal the court ruling.
