A trans father who recently gave birth to his first child has hit back at his critics after they slammed him for breastfeeding his son.

31-year-old Tanius Posey is a proud dad who was born female. As the young man admitted, he “never knew exactly what it was” but he knew that something was off about his gender identity from an early age.

Six years ago, however, Tanius figured out what his inner feeling was trying to tell him and he made the decision to begin his transition into a male.

In the spring of 2021, however, the 31-year-old was stunned when he realized he was pregnant. Documenting his pregnancy journey, the man revealed he was proud to carry his own child saying it doesn’t make him any less of a man.

After welcoming his first child, a baby boy named Za’nius, into the world, Tanius also hit back at people who told him he didn’t “belong on this planet” and those saying he was “harming” his baby.

“I’ve got the parts to be able to [breastfeed]. Just because I transitioned does not mean I stripped myself from wanting to give my child nutrients,” Tanius explained in an interview with Truly.

“I’ve got it, why not utilize what I’ve got? My child has to eat. I can’t sit there and starve him. He’s gotta eat and he doesn’t take a bottle, so I’ve got to feed him.”

Speaking of the hateful comments he receives, the newly-found father added: “I got a lot of backlash, it got the best of me real bad [at first]. But I’m like, maybe if I continue sharing I might be able to help the next individual.

“My response of the haters is that we gotta stop living under a rock, we’ve gotta open up our eyes and realize there’s more than one way to live.”

He further explained that he decided to document his pregnancy journey, and later his experience with breastfeeding as a trans man, to normalize his way of living.
