A teenage girl who is dating a man decades older has spoken out and defended her relationship with her soulmate.
19-year-old Jorja McMahon from Australia fell head over heels for 48-year-old Graham after the pair met by chance outside their apartment complex.
As the young lady explained, she was waiting for a taxi to apply for a job at McDonald’s when Graham approached her and offered to take her to and from her work as long as she paid for gas.
The pair then struck a deal that quickly evolved into something much more serious than just friendship.
“He didn’t try to get in my pants like every other man has tried to, and he treated me with so much respect from the beginning. There was definitely chemistry,” Jorja says.
Months after their chance encounter, the 19-year-old conveyed her feelings to Graham who initially had doubts about “going down that road” because of their age gap.
Thanks to the teen’s persistence, however, the couple decided to give their relationship a try.
While Jorja insists that her partner treats her like a queen, she admitted to receiving a lot of negative feedback not only from friends and family but also from complete strangers.
Among other unwanted comments the couple receives are those accusing Graham of being a predator and those claiming the teenager is after his money.
“I’ve even lost friends over it. People can have an opinion, but sometimes they should keep it to themselves,” the 19-year-old said.
“I’ve also had a lot of single friends get jealous with how he treats me, and have tried to flirt with him.”
She also insisted she wouldn’t trade Graham for a younger man because he treats her with respect and always tells her how beautiful she is.
Despite the criticism, the couple is currently doing better than ever before and is looking forward to starting a family of their own.
