A Miss Universe finalist has sadly passed away at the age of 23 after her life support machine was turned off.
Sienna Weir, who graduated from Sydney University with a double degree in psychology and English literature, was one of the finalists of the 2022 Australian Miss Universe competition.
On April 2, she was reportedly riding her horse at the Windsor Polo Grounds when the animal fell, leaving her with severe injuries.
Weir was taken to Westmead Hospital where the decision was made to tur her life support machine off.
In a September interview with Gold Coast Magazine, the model shared her hopes and dreams. “I hope to move to London in the next few years to spend more time with my sister, niece, and nephew and expand both my professional and social network.”
Opening up about horse riding, she said: “I have a deep and unmoving love for show jumping. My family aren’t quite sure where this passion came from, but I’ve been horse-riding since I was three years old and can’t imagine my life without it.”
She continued: “I travel to rural Sydney [two to three] times a week to train and compete around New South Wales or broader Australia every other weekend.”
Weir’s fans have flooded her final post on Instagram with heartfelt messages.
One person commented: “Rest in Paradise beautiful, so sorry I didn’t get to know you better.”
Another wrote: “Taken from the world far too soon! RIP Sienna.”
A third added: “As a fellow equestrian, this pains me even more. Rest in Peace.”
Friend and fellow model Skye Sutherland wrote: “Today we lost our angel, but heaven has gained her. My sister from another mister. Twinny. BFF. And my all-time favorite. I love you always, and forever.
“To have called you my best friend has been the greatest privilege of my life. I miss you already. Until we meet again.”
