28-year-old Alexis Watts and her husband Christopher, 35, are a polyamorous couple who met at a swingers’ party after the woman’s first marriage went south.

While the couple have since fallen in love and tied the knot, they admitted they remain open to dating other people because doing so only makes their marriage stronger.

Four years after their nuptials, Alexis and Christopher remain happily married and are expecting their fourth child together.

Crediting polygamy for their success in matters of love, the woman now spoke out and said having a boyfriend saved her marriage because her lover “meets the needs her husband can’t.”

“I always felt as though something was missing in my first marriage. I had more to give and I was fighting polyamory. I started swinging and met my husband where we spoke about polyamory and it was like magic, it just made sense,” the mental health therapist explained.

“My boyfriend meets needs my husband can’t. For example, he’s a therapist so we have deeper conversations. In fact, we weren’t intimate for a very long time because our emotional connection was so strong.”

She continued: “People think polyamory is about sex, but it isn’t, it’s about relationships and having more love to give. We’re not walking around in red heels and lipstick trying to take your partner, we only want consenting parties.”

While her experience was mostly positive, Alexis admitted that she and her husband sometimes get jealous of each other’s love interests.

“We get jealous, we’re human and it’s a natural emotion. It doesn’t have to be a bitter and defensive emotion, it’s how you deal with it that’s important,” the mother-of-four added.

“It’s made us grow as we learn how to communicate around it. It’s essential to identify what makes you jealous and what you need from your partner. It’s quite therapeutic.”

Alexis further explained that her current boyfriend is also involved in her children’s lives but doesn’t share the same level of responsibility as her husband. The boyfriend’s wife is also fully supportive of the affair and sometimes even helps Alexis take care of her kids.

“We’re like a huge family so the added support that comes with polyamory makes the pregnancy easier,” the mental health therapist concluded.
