A man has been facing backlash on social media after proposing to his teary girlfriend during her father’s funeral.
While ladies can’t agree on what a perfect proposal looks like, most people were left stunned after seeing a viral video of a man proposing to his crying girlfriend during her dad’s funeral.
The unromantic proposal took place in Limpopo, South Africa, where a man suddenly bent the knee and proposed to the daughter of the man who was being put to rest.
In the shocking video that has been circulating the internet after being posted on TikTok by a user known as M.Mojela, the man is seen putting a ring on his teary girlfriend just feet away from her father’s coffin.
“Proposing [to] the deceased’s daughter right at the funeral. Wiping the tears there and there,” the clip’s caption read.
While it remains unclear what the lady’s response was, she apparently said yes because she kept the ring on throughout the footage.
Soon enough, the clip went viral on TikTok where the majority of viewers slammed the man and accused him of putting his girlfriend in an even more difficult situation. Others also questioned his motives saying he took advantage of her vulnerable state to get the response he wanted.
Unconfirmed reports, however, suggest that the man is a pastor who was performing the ceremony when he decided to take a break to propose to his partner to ‘mend’ her broken heart and help her heal.
“Never, don’t take advantage of my emotions when I’m down and not thinking straight,” one person said after the clip went viral.
“I feel like he should have waited for the funeral to pass…how do you rejoice when you are in such deep pain,” another suggested.
The third wrote: “This here is WRONG.. No matter how you can try and justify it.”
