A 45-year-old man nearly died after having a metal cup stuck up in his bum for ten days as he was too embarrassed to tell anyone about it.

The man, who said that his friends inserted the 6-inch cup during an alcohol-fueled party, tried to remove it the following day but his attempts failed.

He then endured ten more days with the object still stuck inside his body as he didn’t want to tell his family, friends or doctors about his problem.

But after not defecating for more than a week, his stomach began to swell and it became so painful that he was forced to tell about the cup to his family, who took him to the hospital.

An x-ray then revealed the image of the metal cup stuck in his intestine, according to the New Indian Express.

Prof Charan Panda, the head of surgery at MKCG Medical College and Hospital, said that the case was the first in the state.

A team of doctors, Prof Sanjit Kumar Nayak, Dr. Pratibha, Dr. Subrat Baral, and Dr. Satyaswarup performed the surgery to remove the cup from the patient’s intestine.

Satyaswarup said that the first attempt to remove the cup from his anus through an endoscopic procedure was not successful.

“It did not work out. So we had to cut open Rout’s abdomen and extract the tumbler after making an incision in his intestinal wall,” he told the New Indian Expres.

The man’s colon was sutured and a fistular opening was created to help him defecate. He had to stay in the hospital for several days for observation but he is now in stable condition.
