Alistair Blake was reportedly dead for 90 minutes after suffering a heart attack before being revived by medics in January 2019, the Daily Star reported.

His wife, Melinda, woke to find her husband of 35 years ‘gurgling’ and unresponsive in their home in Australia.

Melinda performed CPR on Alistair while waiting for the ambulance to arrive.

By the time paramedics arrived, he was clinically dead. They worked on him for more than an hour as they continued to perform CPR while giving him shocks to the chest.

After trying to restart his heart for 90 minutes, they finally found a pulse.

Opening up on the near-death experience, Alistair said that the other side was a complete void with no sounds, no voices and no light. He said it was so frightening his brain has just blocked it out.

“Technically, I was dead for 90 minutes. I remember going to bed on the Saturday night – and the next thing I remember was waking up Thursday morning on a trolley going from ICU to coronary care,” he said.

“The human brain has totally blocked out what happened in between.”

“A lot of people ask me if I saw anything, and no, I did not see anything. No bright lights, nothing like that whatsoever.

“It’s a case of not knowing what’s out there – but I don’t mind about that, as long as I’m fit and healthy.”

The 61-year-old was rushed to Frankston Hospital where medics managed to unclog his artery.

A pacemaker was then put on his heart and he was discharged 12 days later.

After the experience, he now has a different view in life.

“You take a totally different approach to life. Reducing the number of hours I work, trying to connect more with family and friends,” he went on.

“My eating habits have changed. I eat more healthily and do more exercise, if you’re gonna go, you’re gonna go. If it’s gonna happen it’s gonna happen.”
