A woman claimed that her father had named her after his mistress to avoid being caught cheating in case he called out the wrong name.
31-year-old Kristina Fletcher of Crestwood, Kentucky, has hit the headlines after sharing the shocking story behind her given name on the internet.
As the young TikToker revealed, her father named her after his lover so that her mother wouldn’t grow suspicious should he call her by the wrong name.
“So, I feel like most people who are named after somebody have like a cute story behind it or they’re named after somebody really special. That is not the case for me,” Kristina began.
“Well, skip forward to the day that I was born, my mom wound up having to have a C-section because my big a** head wouldn’t fit through the birth canal. She was super drugged up after that, and my dad filled out all of my paperwork. And, at last, he chose to name me Kristina.”
The woman continued: “My mom really didn’t hate the name, so she just kind of went with it. Everything was fine for a few months — until my mom found out that my dad was cheating on her.
“And guess what the woman’s name was? Kristina. So, if he messed up and called her the wrong name, he could say he was talking about me.”
According to Kristina, her parents’ marriage didn’t last and her dad eventually walked out on her and her mother when she was just three years old.
She also explained that she’s never since had any contact with her dad while revealing that he eventually started a new family only to abandon them as well.
After her story went viral, Kristina received plenty of words of support. While some viewers slammed her dad for using her to cover up his affair, others couldn’t believe a parent was capable of such vile schemes.
“That was so selfish of your father, he sounds like a really bad person,” someone wrote.
“As if having an affair wasn’t bad enough… Some people have no shame,” another said.
Meanwhile, some people went on to share the bizarre origins of their own names.
“My cousin is named after his dad’s favorite drug dealer,” one commenter said.
“My dad named me after a girl he had a crush on in middle school. When my mom found out she stabbed him with a fork,” another claimed.
