Elon Musk’s child was granted permission to change gender and name to Vivian Jenna Wilson as she no longer wants to be associated with him ‘in any way’.
The 18-year-old officially adopted her mother’s maiden name after being granted a gender change, TMZ reported.
The teen was earlier quoted as saying in court documents that the change of name was motivated by “the fact that I no longer live with or wish to be related to my biological father in any way, shape or form.’
The judge’s ruling read: “The petitioner’s name is changed from Xavier Alexander Musk to Vivian Jenna Wilson. The gender of the petitioner is changed from male to female.”
A new birth certificate showing the gender and name change will be issued.
It was in April when Vivian filed court documents to make changes. She is now facing a court hearing in Santa Monica to confirm her change of name and gender.
Vivian’s mother Justine took to Twitter on Monday and said: “’I had a weird childhood,’ my 18 year old said to me. ‘I can’t believe I’m as normal-seeming as I am.’ I said, ‘I’m very proud of you.’ ‘I’m proud of myself!’”
Her Twitter post came as Elon Musk’s comments about trans resurfaced after the announcement.
Musk has a history of making controversial remarks about trans people. In 2020, he said: “I absolutely support trans, but all these pronouns are an esthetic nightmare.”
He was married to Vivian’s mother Justine Wilson from 2000 to 2008. Their first child was born in 2002 and died of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome at 10 weeks old. The former couple then welcomed twin sons – Xavier and Griffin – and triplet boys: Kai, Saxon and Damian, now 16.
