‘Designer Vagina’ Surgeries Are On The Rise As Women Are Increasingly Seeking To Feel More Comfortable In Tight Clothing

The demand for so-called designer vagina surgeries is on the rise according to a plastic surgeon who opened up about the controversial procedure.

Labiaplasty is a plastic surgery procedure during which the size of the labia – the folds of skin surrounding the vaginal opening – is reduced.

Though the procedure can cost upward of $5,000, more and more women are choosing to sign up for surgery according to Dr. John Skevofilax, a top international plastic surgeon.

As the doctor explained, women normally undergo the procedure to feel more comfortable wearing tight clothing like sports leggings and avoid drawing attention to their private parts.

Skevofilax further insisted that the increase in labiaplasty procedures is due to the increasing popularity of sports leggings rather than the popular belief that women are being forced to follow unreasonable beauty standards.

“Exercise clothing is a little bit tighter and it’s formfitting so it does put pressure on the area,” the plastic surgeon told MailOnline.

“They experience pain, discomfort in general, chafing, a lot of women actually will feel so uncomfortable that they avoid trying to wear this type of clothing.

“It’s all really interlinked, choosing a pair of leggings which causes discomfort and which in turn draws attention to the labia and the need for surgery.”

Dr. Skevofilax also dismissed the common and “dangerous” belief that women choose to undergo this procedure due to outside pressure and unrealistic body images.

“Women should be able to wear whatever they want to wear. If they choose tight clothing, for instance yoga pants because they are following a specific fashion trend or just because it’s simply more fitting for this type of exercise, they should be able to do so without anxiety and ‘a bite of the lip’ of what’s to come,” he added.

“In fact, I have never had a patient say: ‘I want my vagina to look like such and such a porn star.’”
