Chris Rock has revealed that he was hate-watching Will Smith’s film Emancipation just so he could see the actor ‘get whipped’.
During his standup special ‘Selective Outrage,’ the comedian made a reference to the Aladdin star and said he enjoyed the film as the actor was attacked on screen.
The Hancock actor and the 58-year-old comedian previously got into a feud during the 94th Academy Awards.
“The other day,” Rock said during the special, “I watched Emancipation just so I could watch (Smith) getting whipped.”
He also said that he was previously a Will Smith fan and had ‘rooted’ for him ‘my whole life’ during his time on stage.
“Will Smith practices selective outrage…people who are in the know, know that s*** had nothing to do with me,” he went on.
According to Page Six, the comedian would also talk about the slapping incident on Selective Outrage.
A source revealed that Rock has been ‘waiting to spill his humorous take on it’ and saw the special as the best place to finally express his thoughts.
The insider also said that the comedian ‘relied on the help of veteran comedy writers to run his jokes by to make sure they were tweaked, solid and funny,’ adding that even though the discussion would surely gain attention, the rest of the special would be more than worth watching.
“People need to tune in till the last joke, they will not be disappointed,” the source added.
The slapping incident during the Oscars happened after Rock made a joke about Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, about her shaved head.
After joking that Jada was preparing for a role in a sequel to G.I. Jane, Smith took to the stage and slapped the performer, leaving everyone shocked.
The Bad Boys franchise star then went back to his seat and started shouting at Rock, “keep my wife’s name out (of) your f***ing mouth!”
The actor was then banned from attending Academy-related events for one decade.
