A bride has come under fire after revealing she wore a “trashy” dress to her wedding.
Ashley Raso is a young woman from Australia who decided to do something out of the box by designing her own wedding dress for her big day.
“Thank you for trusting in my vision to bring this dress to life,” the woman wrote in her viral TikTok video as she tagged the Petersham-based fashion designer House of Harper.
“I have had a passion for design and fashion all of my life and so when I went to Danny and Isabelle with a bold vision to make a see-through wedding dress, the ultimate fashion statement, the were instantly thrilled and on board.”
In the video, Ashley could be seen wearing a white see-through wedding dress with an open back that allowed her underwear to shine right through the thin lace.
“We pushed ourselves think creatively and outside of the box, whilst still keeping the dress refined and classy,” Ashley added. “The end product exceeded all of my expectations.”
The Sydney-based bride also revealed that one of the reasons behind the see-through dress was her desire to teach her future daughters to be “fearless” in life.
While plenty of viewers quickly sided with the woman and branded her as “brave” and “inspiring,” Ashley also faced heaps of backlash and criticism from people who called her dress tacky and trashy.
“I love it for you but I’d feel soooo awkward talking to my father in law and husband’s extended family in this,” one woman said.
“How is wearing a see through dress going to teach your non existent daughter how to be fearless?” another pondered.
A third joked: “I’m all for confidence and creativity but this is just a tad too much.”
Some women, however, rushed to the bride’s defense saying she looked gorgeous and stunning in the one-of-a-kind dress.
“I love the covered but uncovered at the same time look. It’s exactly what I want,” one expressed.
“So brave and confident, wish I could pull off something like that!” another said.
