It was on December 26 when the son of musician Stephen Marley was found dead inside a vehicle.

According to documents obtained from the Miami-Dade Medical Examiner’s Office, the 31-year-old died of ‘acute asthma exacerbation’ instigated by enterovirus or rhinovirus infection.

The document showed that Marley, who had a history of pneumonia, bronchitis, and asthma, was not on medication at the time of his passing.

According to Rolling Stone, the report also revealed that Marley had a history of smoking, black discoloration in his lungs, and that he had ‘enlarged glottic tonsils.’

A toxicology report then revealed the presence of THC – the psychoactive compound in marijuana – in his system, along with 0.08% of ethanol and naloxone.

“An acute asthma exacerbation due to viral illness is a common occurrence and considered a non-allergic event,” the medical examiner’s report stated.

“Additionally, chronic smoking of combustible products such as tobacco or marijuana is dangerous in a person with asthma.”

According to the report, Marley talked to his mother only a day before he died.

While the report noted that there were no evidence of injury, his lung reportedly showed signs of congestion, hyperexpansion, and increased mucus in its airway.
