The 18-year-old singer wore a black dress with a plunging neckline and a daring thigh-split from YSL’s Fall 2020 collection.

Rodrigo completed the look with a simple bun hairdo and red-lip makeup.

The singer certainly turned heads and got everybody’s attention when she walked on the red carpet.

While many netizens praised the 18-year-old for being bold, others believed that the Driving License star was a little too daring for someone of her age.

“Don’t get me wrong but she’s kinda young for this ysl dress?” one person commented. “Idk I don’t see her grown enough to wear this but maybe it’s just me.”

The debate about whether the YSL dress was too grown-up for Rodrigo prompted many to join the discussion and argue that women should be able to wear what they want, no matter their age is.

“Olivia Rodrigo: *dressing for herself and being comfortable & confident in what she wears*,” one user wrote. “twitter: “i think she’s too young to be wearing that” “Hollywood is sexualizing her” “she shouldn’t dress like that cause men will sexualize her.”

Another Twitter user shared a post containing Billie Eilish’s lyrics about being judged for the clothes she chooses to wear.

“If I wear what is comfortable I am not a woman, if I shed the layers I am a slut,” the tweet reads. “People calling Olivia Rodrigo out for her dress is exactly what Billie Eilish meant here.”

In 2019, Stranger Things actress Millie Bobby Brown clapped back at trolls who shamed her for what they considered ‘dressing inappropriately’.

Millie, who was 14 at the time, received backlash from social media commenters after she posted a photo of herself on Instagram in a body-hugging snakeskin-print dress.

Apparently, Millie’s dress on the photo was too much for some of her Instagram followers, claiming the actress is growing up way too fast.

But Millie wasn’t affected by the negative comments on her post. In an Instagram story, she responded to the commenters telling her to ‘act her age.’

“Ik everyone on my last pic wants me to “act my age” but quite frankly it’s my Instagram and if I choose to post that picture and you don’t like it… scroll past it).”
