Barack and Michelle Obama Say The Jury Did ‘The Right Thing’ In Finding Derek Chauvin Guilty


Barack and Michelle Obama were quick to release a statement after breaking news broke about the George Floyd murder trial.

According to local media outlets, the Obamas, just like the rest of the world, had a close eye on the Derek Chauvin case, and therefore couldn’t hold back their excitement when the judge announced the verdict. A former cop from Minneapolis, Derek Chauvin, was found guilty on all three charges.

Hence, the Obamas released a statement shortly after that where they applauded the jury for doing the right thing.

In the same way, they also took this opportunity to call for concrete reforms that would assist in developing policies for the complete elimination of all forms of racial bias.

Barack mentioned, “Michelle and I send out our prayers to the Floyd family. We have stood and will continue to stand by all those who guarantee every single American their full measure of justice that have been denied for George as well as many others.”

On the other hand, former US President Bill Clinton and the former Secretary of State, Hilary Clinton, were also quick at releasing their thoughts on the verdict. Here, they spoke about how the jury made the correct decision by finding Derek Chauvin guilty on all of his charges.

In separate statements on Twitter, the Clintons praised the conviction by all means with Hilary going as far as mentioning, ‘Always and forever, Black Lives Matter.’

Barack and Michelle Obama also added that a lot more needs to be done to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future with further calls to eliminate racism and bias from the country’s criminal and legal system.

Bill Clinton spoke about how George Floyd’s was a clear indication that the country needs to do much better at training, recruiting as well as holding the nation’s law enforcement agencies responsible for their actions and the community which they serve.
