America’s Got Talent Finalist Zuri Craig Dies At The Age Of 44


Zuri Craig, a former America’s Got Talent finalist and Tyler Perry collaborator, has passed away at the age of 44 on Friday.

The tragic news was announced by Craig’s family who asked for privacy while not disclosing the cause of the AGT alum’s death.

“It is with profound sadness that we announce the transition of our beloved son, brother and friend, Zuri Craig,” the family revealed in a statement.

“We thank you in advance for your prayers. Please honor our privacy during this unimaginable time of mourning. Official details to follow.”

Zuri rose to fame back in 2015 when he appeared in the finals of America’s Got Talent alongside Jeffrey Lewis, his singing partner with whom he formed CraigLewis Band.

Despite their captivating performance, the pair had lots of tough competition and the title of the winner of the AGT Season 10 went to ventriloquist Paul Zerdin. The second place went to stand-up comedian Drew Lynch.

Before the shocking news of Craig’s passing, the CraigLewis Band was set to perform at the MCHS Gymnasium for The King’s Fest on October 30.

Craig was also set to appear at Center Stage Theater in Atlanta later in November after producing the play called Soul Food Live.

Besides his music career, Craig will also be remembered for appearing alongside Tyler Perry in the musical Madea’s Big Happy Family.

In the 2010 musical at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, Craig played a 17-year-old sixth grader Donnie.

A year later, he also appeared in the musical A Madea Christmas in which he portrayed Madea’s virginal son Japan Mansell.
