Woman Buried ALIVE By Mistake Spent 11 Days Trying To Escape From Wooden Coffin But She Sadly Died By The Time Casket Was Reopened


A woman who was buried alive by mistake spent 11 days trying to escape from her wooden coffin.

37-year-old Rosangela Almeida dos Santos desperately tried to fight her way out of the casket, with locals reporting hearing chilling noises and screams coming from her grave.

Video shows people gathering in the Senhora Santana cemetery in northeast Brazil as residents took out the casket and smashed it open.

But by the time family members opened the tomb, the woman had already died. She was buried again the following day.

According to reports, people living near the graveyard alerted the family eleven days after Ms. Santos had been buried alive by mistake after hearing bangs and screams.

Her body was still warm and had turned around, and the cotton wool in her nostrils and ears had been removed.

She also had injuries on her forehead and hands after trying to fight her way out of the tomb.

Reports also revealed that the nails around the sides of the casket had been pushed upwards and that blood and scratches were found on the inside.

Ms. Santos was reportedly rushed by her family to the Hospital do Oeste with severe fatigue. Her death certificate showed that she suffered two cardiac arrests before passing away from ‘septic shock.’

Her loved ones bid farewell to her at a wake and she was buried in a concrete tomb.

However, residents living near the cemetery raised an alarm after hearing groans, banging and screams coming from her tomb.

Resident Natalina Silva told Brazil’s G1 website: “When I got there right in front of the tomb, I heard banging from inside it. I thought the kids who play around the cemetery were playing a joke on me. Then I heard her groan twice, and after those two groans she stopped.”

Ana Francisco Dias, another resident, told Globo TV station: “There were than 500 people who came here and packed the cemetery, everybody went to see, lots of people touched her foot and everybody saw that she was still warm. She wasn’t cold.”

The family have now reported the incident to police.

A spokesperson for the hospital that declared her dead said they “will provide all necessary information requested from them to the family and authorities.”
