The widow of one of the Colorado truck crash victims has spoken out and slammed Kim Kardashian over her calls for clemency.
After 26-year-old trucker Rogel Lazaro Aguilera-Mederos was found guilty of 27 counts, including four counts of vehicular manslaughter, and sentenced to 110 years in prison, more than 4.8 million people signed the change.org petition calling for “granting Rogel clemency or commutation-as time served.”
Amongst vocal supporters of the petition was also Kim Kardashian who urged the governor of Colorado to “do the right thing” as she explained the judge was forced to hand over the harsh sentence due to the State’s mandatory minimum sentence laws.
Not everyone, however, was pleased with the KUWTK star’s interference in the matter. Hitting back at the socialite was Kathleen Harrison whose husband of 26 years, Doyle Harrison, lost his life in the tragic I-70 accident.
“I don’t think that we want our local proceedings in any state taken over by who has the loudest mouth out there, because people don’t know all the details, they are running on emotion,” the mother-of-three expressed.
Though many believe that the sentence is too harsh, the widow suggested that Aguilera-Mederos should be sentenced to 20 years in prison for causing an accident that killed four people due to the missteps he made in the moments leading to the crash.
Harrison’s latest comment comes after Kim Kardashian urged Colorado Governor Jared Polis to either grant clemency for the young driver or commute his sentence.
