The Ukrainian president has vowed to fight until the end as he refused to give up any territory in the country to the Russian invaders.
Addressing the nation, Volodymyr Zelensky pledged to keep on fighting Putin’s forces after Russia issued a chilling “surrender or die” ultimatum to the remaining defenders at the besieged city of Mariupol.
According to Ukraine’s leader, he remains in contact with the West as he called on other nations to resupply the country with weapons needed to continue fighting Russia.
“The task remains the same for everyone in power. Work not one hundred nut two hundred percent to ensure our defense. Provide Ukraine with weapons, financial support, and all other supplies,” Zelensky said.
He went on to claim that Putin is preparing for a massive attack in the east of the country and said the Russian strongman is trying to destroy Donbas.
“I began this day with a meeting with the military and government officials on the situation in combat zones. Russian troops are preparing for an offensive operation in the east of our country.
“It will begin in the near future. They want to literally finish off and destroy Donbas. Destroy everything that once gave glory to this industrial region.”
The Ukrainian president went on to accuse Russian forces of trying to wipe out entire communities in the Luhansk and Donetsk regions while calling their actions against innocent civilians “deliberate terror.”
“The democratic world must also react to what the occupiers are doing in the south of Ukraine – in the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions,” Zelensky added.
“Torture chambers are built there. They abduct representatives of local authorities and anyone deemed visible to local communities. They blackmail teachers. They steal pension money. They create starvation.”
Despite the dire situation in the east of the country, Zelensky has vowed to fight until the end and not give up any territory to Putin.
