Ukraine reportedly bombed a military base in Russia as part of their retaliatory actions against the invaders.

In a Tuesday morning attack, a military base in Klintsy, western Russia, was seen going up in flames and smoke after a presumed missile attack by Ukraine.

While the war for Ukraine’s independence continues in the eastern regions of the embattled nation, it now appears Ukraine is ready to fight back against its invaders by striking military targets in Russia.

In footage taken from Klintsy, plumes of smoke could be seen rising from the crater left behind by the explosion.

After the fire began spreading from the military base to a nearby apartment building, helicopters, soldiers, and first responders were seen rushing to the scene to stop the blaze and evaluate the damage.

“I was driving to work… there was a rocket takeoff, after which they called me and said there was an explosion in Klintsy. The time between takeoff and the call is three minutes,” a local who took a photo of the missile trace revealed.

While no casualties have been reported so far, some reports claim that a woman’s leg was ripped off in the blast.

Furthermore, preliminary investigation revealed that the missile used in the attack was a Soviet-developed surface-to-surface short-range ballistic missile known as Tochka-U.

Following the missile strike, local authorities confirmed that the military equipment on the site was damaged. Electricity and water were also temporarily cut off.

The attack follows shortly after Kremlin mouthpiece and State Duma Chairman Viacheslav Volodin warned the West that Europe will be wiped out in a nuclear conflict if they support Ukraine with missiles and weapons that could be used against Russia.

“The Europeans will have much more serious problems than those they have already faced today (refugees, record inflation, energy crisis),” Volodin wrote on Telegram.

“Sikorski is provoking a nuclear conflict in the center of Europe.”

He continued: “He doesn’t think neither about the future of Ukraine nor about the future of Poland. In case his suggestions are fulfilled, these countries will cease to exist, as will Europe as well.

“Sikorski and the like are the reason why Ukraine must not only be set free from the Nazi ideology but also be demilitarized, securing the nuclear-weapon-free status of the country.”

Volodin’s comments come after Polish foreign minister Radoslaw Sikorski accused Russia of breaching the 1994 Budapest Memorandum on Security Assurances and suggested the West could, in return, help Ukraine with nuclear weapons to “give Ukraine the opportunity to defend its independence.”
