A teenage woman has reportedly given birth to a pair of twins, each having a separate dad.
According to local media reports, there are only two such cases that have been recorded in this world. Hence, the woman is definitely considering herself to be lucky but we’re not quite sure if kids’ dads feel the same.
The condition is called heteroparental superfecundation and it’s extremely rare that such an instance has taken place. But since both fathers produced positive tests for the DNA, it means they’ve each fathered one of the two kids.
The mother who hails from Portugal is yet to be named but it was confirmed how she did engage in intimacy with two separate partners on the same day. She hails from a tiny town in the country called Mineiros that’s situated in the state of Goias.
One DNA test was carried out by the man she assumed would be the father of both of her children, in this case, boys. This was when her sons were 8 months old, but that was not the case.
One came back positive while the other did not. And that’s when the young mom suddenly recalled how she did indeed have intimacy with another man on the same exact day.
Therefore, another DNA test was conducted when she requested that her other partner take the test. Surprisingly, it was positive two.
While the situation is one in a million, it’s definitely not something to be proud of, and finding out almost a year later about the twins’ real dads has really left her and her loved ones in a state of complete shock.
Doctors claim the rare situation arises when two eggs from the same mom get fertilized by different men. Therefore, the kids share the mom’s genetic material but they grow in different placentas.
