The process of gender transitioning is never an easy one and this story about a woman’s journey from Sydney is the perfect example of just that.
The woman says she transitioned into a male before realizing the consequences and how it would turn out to be the biggest regret of her life. It is believed the psychiatrist had approved her conversion from a female into a male by hormone treatment, after only a single meeting.
Moreover, it was revealed how he also signed off two entire surgeries to have her breasts and uterus removed.
Now, 31-year-old Jay Langadinos is taking legal action against the psychiatrist named Dr. Patrick Toohey, who is known to be a veteran in Sydney.
At that time, the woman was just 19 and says she was easily persuaded into thinking and believing that her decision was absolutely correct. But little did she realize that it was far from the truth. Gender transitioning certainly didn’t work out well in her favor and it’s a huge regret that she’s now being forced to live as a man.
The specialist had mentioned how Langadinos who is now no longer referring to herself as a male, was very young and therefore needed a proper psychiatric work-up before she began her hormone treatment.
These statements were filed as a part of the recent court documents and cited by the Sydney Morning Herald recently. And in just a single meeting, the psychiatrist was able to evaluate that she suffering from a condition called gender dysphoria.
That meant she would be fit for hormone therapy where testosterone would be provided to aid the transition.
In the next meeting, the 19-year-old mentioned how eager she was to have the surgery and get her breasts removed. After that, they had a final meeting to discuss uterus removal as well. But now, the woman feels that Toohey failed to act professionally and didn’t recognize her social phobia condition.
