A top cancer doctor and her baby were both found shot dead in the bedroom of their $1 million-home in a suspected murder-su*cide.
According to police, they believe Dr. Krystal Cascetta, a cancer specialist at New York City’s Mount Sinai Hospital, entered her baby’s room and opened fire on her child before taking her own life.
The incident occurred at 7 am at their home in Somers, with officers describing the injuries as ‘consistent with a murder/su*cide.’
Dr. Cascetta leaves behind her husband Tim Talty, whom she tied the knot with in 2019.
In a statement, police said: “The New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) Somers are investigating a murder/suicide in the town of Somers.
“A preliminary investigation revealed that at approximately 7am, Krystal Cascetta entered her child’s room and shot her baby and then turned the gun on herself. The scene is consistent with a murder/su*ide.
“Dr Krystal Cascetta was a renowned oncologist for Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York City.”
The age and the gender of the child have not been revealed.
DailyMail reportedly contacted the doctor’s grieving husband, who said: “Can you give us some time?”
The couple tied the knot in Greenpoint, Brookly, in a romantic ceremony, with the doctor wearing a beautiful white fishtail wedding gown for their big day.
At the time, Talty said: “My Wife! It took us a year to plan and a lifetime to gather all of the wonderful people to make our wedding so special!”
Talty, who runs an energy bar company called the Talty Bar, shared how his wife had used her scientific and medical knowledge to help advise on how to create products.
Cascetta was a member of the American Society of Hematology and the American Society of Clinical Oncology. She also served as Chief Fellow at Mount Sinai Hospital.
