BREAKING: Up To 200 People Killed In Massive Explosion After Bomber Detonated Explosives Inside A Mosque


Up to two hundred people died in Afghanistan on Friday after a suicide bomber detonated explosives during prayers.

At least fifty worshippers, and possibly as many as two hundred, lost their lives on Friday after a suspected terrorist blew himself up in Kabul’s Khalifa Sahib Mosque.

While the Taliban authorities initially reported just ten casualties, other sources claim the fatalities could be in the hundreds.

The leader of the Khalifa Sahib Mosque has since the horrific terror attack confirmed that at least fifty worshippers were killed in the bombing.

Meanwhile, some agencies said the real number of casualties could be as high as 200.

“Reports that more than 200 people have been killed in an explosion at Khalifa Sahib Mosque in Kabul, during Friday prayers,” Shabnam Nasimi, a Policy Special Advisor to the UK Minister of State for Refugees, tweeted.

“This is the 11th terrorist attack in Afghanistan in last 10 days. Innocent lives are being lost, without any investigation or accountability.”

Nasimi also shared a report of Afghan journalist Bilal Sarwary who wrote: “Powerful Explosion in Khalifa sahib Khanaqa mosque during Friday prayers in Allahudin area of Kabul. Roof of the mosque collapsed. Close to 200 people among those killed and wounded.”

According to witnesses, it is believed that the suicide bomber entered the mosque with explosives attached to his body before detonating the bombs.

“Black smoke rose and spread everywhere, dead bodies were everywhere. I myself survived, but lost my beloved ones,” Sayed Fazil Agha, one of the survivors, told Reuters.

Following the brutal bombing, the Taliban-ruled government claimed that the attack is being investigated.

“The casualties toll from today’s bomb explosion in a Khanqah adjacent to a mosque in the Alauddin area of Police District-6 reached 40 casualties, including ten deaths,” Taliban spokesperson Khalid Zadran said in a statement conflicting reports of witnesses.

“Security agencies are investigating the incident.”
