Fans of the famous ‘Thomas the Tank Engine’ were left absolutely stunned when they were informed against referring to him as a fat controller as the words were now deemed to be a slur.
The incident is believed to have taken place at a recent family day out event that occurred at Watercress Line Railway at Hampshire recently.
But things really took a sudden turn for the worse when the staff member warned the family against using the terms and instead, call him by his real name, which was revealed to be Sir Topham Hatt.
For those who are not aware, this popular event which is dubbed ‘Day Out With Thomas’ has suddenly sparked a new debate online as many were left confused as to what was going on and how the trending concept of cancel culture was really on the rise again.
Others explained how the event was supposed to be about children having fun and jumping on board the display. Moreover, the fact that the event was just launched recently and to hear such negativity and controversial stories surrounding it was just mindblowing to a few others.
“Seeing Thomas the Tank Engine fall victim to such incidents related to canceling culture is beyond disgusting”- mentioned one visitor who felt such actions weren’t needed.
In 2018, we saw the Thomas character be altered to fit into the likes of being a female after authorities removed two of his male engines. These were then reportedly altered using two females. And this whole revamp had to do with one thing and one thing only- and that was a gender balance transformation.
