A young teenager who was reportedly shot by an officer is now alive and smiling, his parents confirmed.

Sources spoke about how the officer guilty of such behavior is now fired as per the demands of the public and the family involved.

Doctors have confirmed that Eric Cantu now has several years of rehab ahead of him as confirmed by his own father.

The Cantu family has added how the current six weeks have been absolutely grueling for them. They were horrified to learn that their son was shot around several times. And that too while consuming a hamburger.

But now, the victim is giving his loved ones something to smile about.

“After a period of six weeks and by the Grace of God, we would like to announce that all the prayers sent forward for our young teen son have been fulfilled.”

On that note, they revealed how they have all managed to come out victorious from such an unfortunate event.  This was the update provided by the victim’s father who made the announcement while pleading for more funds on the family’s GoFundMe account.

He explained also how proud of a father he was to see his son walk again. “It’s surreal”- he went on to mention.

“You all are the first ones to see him smile and I am a proud father to see this young man fight so hard to be there”- the dad explained.

The incident arose when the San Antonio Police Department officer named James Brennand opened the door of Erik’s car. At the time, he happened to be eating a hamburger in the parking lot but all of a sudden, he was yelled at to get out before being shot.
