A school is coming under fire for forcing to send a child home with a chest binder.
According to reports from local media outlets, the parents were annoyed and fuming after they realized what had happened. And if that was not dramatic enough, the school urged the student not to tell her parents of their intervention in the matter.
The incident reportedly took place in Maine where reports from local media outlets revealed how a social worker at the school gave the teen a product called a chest binder.
This particular device is used for those wishing to transition from one gender to the next. But seeing that on their child has left the parents shocked and baffled. They feel this isn’t necessary.
The admitted how she got the device from the school and was told not to tell anyone about it. Moreover, now the school is being bashed in the public eye.
People are having a hard time digesting why the officials at the Great Salt Bay Community School would do something like this. They also felt children were no longer safe at school as they were being misguided in more ways than one regarding their true identity.
The child’s mother named Amber Lavigne says she was mortified and didn’t know what to make of it. When she quizzed her daughter about the bizarre offering, the response she got was baffling, to say the least.
“Seeing my girl wearing a chest-flattening device had me thinking twice about what in the world is going on. She told me her friend had given it to her. I was like that’s not possible. I threatened by stating that I’d be going to her friend’s mom to ask”- the mother revealed.
On that note, the young teen explained that it was actually the new social worker to whom she had been reassigned at school that felt she needed the device. And the mother was just speechless.
