It’s been almost 25 years since Diana, Princess Of Wales died in a fatal car crash in Paris, France.
But now, the first medic who arrived at the scene of her accident recalls the moment he saw her and failed to recognize her, adding she was a very beautiful woman indeed.
Frederic Maillez claims to have been driving in a Paris tunnel when he saw the Princess’s smashed Mercedes Benz. He recalls how brutally it was crashed, making it difficult for anyone to survive such a brutal incident.
He says he immediately rushed to her aid and tried to resuscitate her at the scene of the tragedy. But it was in vain. The accident and injuries were just too severe for many to make it out alive. Yet, he tried his best.
“I did not recognize her at all. I just looked at her and thought she’s a beautiful woman but little did I know she was the Royal”- he explained.
Frederic is a French Doctor who happened to be driving in the tunnel when he saw Diana’s vehicle.
“I just feel so much guilt. I feel responsible for her final moments”- he started to explain in a heartbreaking tone.
Frederic described seeing the royal in an unconscious state, struggling to breathe on the floor of the mangled car wreckage located in the Alma Tunnel.
“I’m still so marked by what happened that night. It was a clear realization for me that I was one of the last ones to have laid eyes on Diana. It can never forget that day”- he elaborated.
The doctor says he had just attended a party and was on his way back home when he saw the wreckage.
“There was smoke everywhere. The car was literally split into two, it’s just so devastating. I wish I could have done something more to bring her back to life. And that’s why I do feel a little responsible for her final moments”- he concluded.
