A Russian soldier reportedly drove a tank over his commanding officers in anger over the great losses his unit had suffered in Ukraine.
According to Ukrainian journalist Roman Tsymbaliuk, who was one of the last Ukrainian reporters to leave Russia amid rising tensions, Russian Colonel Yuri Medvedev was run over by one of his own subordinates who was angry over the loss of hundreds of soldiers in his tank battalion amid the invasion of Ukraine.
“A soldier, choosing a convenient moment during the battle, ran over his brigade commander, Colonel Yuri Medvedev, with a tank, injuring both his legs,” Tsimbalyuk reported.
“Medvedev is in a hospital in Belarus and has already been awarded the Order of Courage.”
While the reporter’s claim hasn’t been officially verified, Chechen leader and Putin’s ally Ramzan Kadyrov released a video allegedly showing Medvedev being rushed to the hospital for leg injuries.
In the shocking footage, Chechen troops can be seen loading the colonel onto a stretcher and asking him how he was feeling. The Russian commander was allegedly also told to continue wearing his bulletproof vest.
As of this writing, it remains unclear what happened to the soldier who allegedly drove over his commanding officer with a tank.
While Tsimbalyuk’s claim cannot be verified as of this moment, countless other reports of low morale among Russian troops have emerged.
Among other allegations, it is said that some soldiers are deliberating going as far as shooting themselves in their legs to avoid having to continue fighting in Ukraine.
Other reports suggest that soldiers are losing their will to follow orders due to frostbite, lack of provisions, and slow progress in the country.
