An entire Russian convoy consisting of trucks and armored vehicles has been destroyed in an ambush.
As the Ukrainian Ground Forces revealed, a special operation was carried out to intercept and ambush a Russian convoy heading south from the city of Kharkiv towards the city of Izyum which is currently occupied by Russian invaders.
According to the report, Ukraine’s Special Operations Forces orchestrated the ambush by planting explosives at key points along the road leading to Izyum.
After the convoy was immobilized by a massive explosion, the special forces swept the area and neutralized the surviving Russian soldiers.
In photos from the scene, several Russian trucks and armored vehicles can be seen at a halt with billows of smoke rising from the battlefield.
“Our soldiers discovered Russian Kamaz trucks, Tiger and Ural armored vehicles moving to strengthen their group in the Kharkiv region,” the Ukrainian Ground Forces revealed in a Thursday statement.
“Having established the route of the enemy convoy, SSO operators designated a bridge in the way of the enemy vehicles as the most suitable location to conduct an ambush.”
They added: “Having calculated the best location and the required amount of explosives, the charges were planted and blown up, destroying the entire convoy.
“Our unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) confirmed the targets were destroyed, after which members of the army moved into complete the operation.”
The ambush comes as military experts suggest that Izyum will likely become one of the new centers of armed conflict between defending Ukrainians and invading Russians who set their eyes on the east of the country after failing to take over Kyiv and overthrow the Ukrainian government.
