Shocking reports have spoken about an unidentified driver opening fire on a young girl on the streets.
According to authorities, the victim was identified as a 16-year-old who was casually taking a stroll on the streets of Manchester when all of a sudden, she was shot in the chest.
The girl had just gotten back from attending a party and therefore, authorities believe the two incidents were reportedly linked.
Authorities have now cordoned off the streets where the tragic shooting took place as the victim was rushed to a nearby local hospital and is seeking treatment for her gunshot injuries.
The exact site of the crime was identified as Moss Side of Manchester, which is now heavily guarded by a police presence that is trying to gather more clues as the investigation into the tragedy begins.
The crime was described to be a drive-by shooting incident where dozens of police officers were dispatched after receiving reports about the horror as confirmed by the Manchester Evening news this morning.
Meanwhile, authorities believe the girl is out of danger and didn’t sustain any critical injuries but she is in a state of shock.
Cops believe shots were fired from the unidentified driver seated in a vehicle that was passing by on the streets where the victim unluckily happened to be present at that time.
“He tried to aim for the crowd of party-goers but just couldn’t. The victim ended up being targeted!”- one witness explained.
The cops assure the victims’ families that the incident is currently under investigation and detectives are trying to speak to witnesses while searching for more clues as to what may have been the shooter’s motive for the harrowing act.
“We don’t believe that the girl was the real target of the shooter. It seems to be a miscalculated target!”- the authorities claim as they hope to provide more answers regarding the case soon after the investigation’s results come in.
