Ricky Martin’s brother says that the singer’s nephew who accused him of incest has mental health problems.
This comes amid allegations that the Livin’ La Vida Loca singer’s nephew Dennis Yadiel Sanchez has criminal records in Puerto Rico.
According to Fox3News, Sanchez’s co-worker Claudia Ramrez Martell filed a restraining order against him as he became ‘obsessed’ with her. He also threatened to kill her.
Ricky’s brother Eric Martin took to Facebook and claimed that Sanchez ‘has mental problems,’ saying that the 21-year-old – who also hurt other relatives – is now estranged from the family.
Eric also said that the family had been coping with Sanchez’s declining mental health but he was already ‘tired of being quiet.’
On Friday, Martin’s legal team also told Daily Mail that the singer’s nephew is “struggling with deep mental health challenges” and dismissed his “disgusting” claims.
Sanchez’s claims emerged after he filed a restraining order against his uncle.
According to reports, the order filed on July 1 was related to an incident in Puerto Rico. The 21-year-old has since claimed his uncle was “exercising physical and psychological attacks” on him during their alleged relationship, which he claimed ended only two months ago.
Martin has firmly denied the claims.
Lawyer Martin Singer said on Friday: “Ricky Martin has, of course, never been – and would never be – involved in any kind of sexual or romantic relationship with his nephew.
“The idea is not only untrue, it is disgusting. We all hope that this man gets the help he so urgently needs. But, most of all, we look forward to this awful case being dismissed as soon as a judge gets to look at the facts.”
