A new image of WNA superstar player Brittney Griner has recently been released.
The picture shows the player behind bars on a Russian court, smiling away while holding an image of hope that featured her basketball teammates back home.
Griner has been put behind bars after she was declared guilty of possessing cannabis oil while traveling through a Russia report. But her lawyers are fighting hard, claiming all the cannabis found was medicinal.
Griner did admit to the courtroom that it was hers but she had no intention of breaking the law and had apologized for doing so.
In addition to that, the player was seen mentioning to the courtroom how she was indeed allowed to carry the drug in her possession as it was only for medicinal purposes.
At the moment, she is still inside the courtroom after pleading guilty to drug possession charges in Russia as many call the case controversial and one that’s going to be difficult to solve.
Meanwhile, the US health officials have tried to intervene by claiming that they were the ones who prescribed the drug to the WNBA star player as a treatment for her symptoms related to chronic pain as reiterated by her lawyers too. But the justification doesn’t seem to be good enough to convince Russian authorities to let the star go home.
Griner seemed to be in a positive mood as she sat inside her cell smiling with an image of her teammates by her side. This was right before she was escorted by Russian female prison guards towards her case’s hearing recently.
