A young Louisiana rapper was shot dead outside his home in a horrific ambush.
24-year-old Javorius Scott, who is better known by his stage name JayDaYoungan, was sitting on the lawn outside his home in Bogalusa when three armed men jumped out of a truck that pulled over by the side of the road.
As the rapper’s father, Kenyatta Scott, told TMZ, he and his son were together when the gunfire erupted.
While they tried their best to run inside their home, the pair were met by two more men who started firing at them.
During the confrontation, Kenyatta was shot twice in the arm. While he is expected to recover from his injuries, his son succumbed to his gunshot wounds shortly after being rushed to the hospital.
Following his son’s death, Scott insisted that Javorius was a “humble and respectful” kid who didn’t have any conflicts with other people. He also said he believes the targeted attack wasn’t gang-related.
“There will be no stone left unturned until we find out who took him,” L.C. Jefferson, the victim’s grandfather, told WDSU.
“This is only what I hear. Someone came from behind the house with a ski mask on and gunned him down. In broad daylight. On a busy road. People have gotten so comfortable to where they think they can shoot someone down and not be caught.”
As of this writing, the suspects remain at large and the investigation into the shooting continues.
“The senseless shooting in Bogalusa [is] another tragic reminder of the pain that violent crime brings with it,” Bogalusa mayor Wendy Perrette said.
“My thoughts and prayers are with the victims’ family and friends. As your mayor and as a mother I plead on behalf of our community and for our children: today must mean enough is finally enough. Stop the violence! See something, say something.”
