Kelly’s alleged victim revealed she’s engaged to the disgraced singer and songwriter in a letter to the court prior to his sentencing.
The 55-year-old R&B star was sentenced to 30 years in prison after being found guilty of s*x trafficking and racketeering involving underage victims.
In a shocking letter to the court, however, one of the singer’s alleged victims spoke out and claimed that she’s engaged to Kelly and that he’s “not the monster” the media and government portrayed him to be.
“My name is Joycelyn Savage, and I’m Robert Kelly’s fianće. I’m writing this letter in support of Robert in advance of his sentencing, so I can explain to the court that I’m not the victim that the government has portrayed me to be,” Joycelyn Savage claimed in a June 12 letter to Judge Ann Donnelly.
Calling on the judge for a lenient sentence, the alleged abuse victim went on to insist that Kelly was “an all-around incredible person” who always helped those in need.
“He always takes any opportunity he can to help those in need. He’s very determined and focused on his goals, and the things that have been said about him, with me and other women being held against our will is absolutely untrue. It’s the complete opposite of who he is and what my relationship is like with Robert,” the Atlanta-native added.
The letter continued: “Robert and I are deeply in love and it breaks my heart that the government has created a narrative that I’m a victim. I’m a grown woman, and I can speak for myself.”
Concluding her plea to the judge, Savage asked the court to consider her words when it came to sentencing her fiancé.
“He is a great man, with a great heart and deserves to be home with his loved ones who are ready to support him,” she said.
